Junction of Highway 93 with #1 (Trans-Canada Highway). Continue South toward Lake Louise. - 233 km (52 km)
Lake Louise townsite. On the 4-day trip, stay here. If you have time and the strength, cycle up the very steep 4 km road to Lake Louise. Or, take the shuttle. This is one of my favorite places. The parking lot is to the left and the huge Chateau is to the right. A paved path skirts the right side of the lake to its head, but cycle traffic is not permitted. Lock up your bike and take your water bottle. Just past the Chateau is a dirt path leading up to Lake Agnes. It is a stiff climb to a tea-house (overlooking the waterfall) which serves the best tea in the world. Maybe it is the climb that makes the tea taste so great. You can come back down the way you came or you can walk along the ridge toward the head of the lake. Then walk along the paved path back to your bike. There are several other hiking/walking paths in the area. I have met people from almost everywhere in the world at the tea-house. - 235 km (50 km)
From the townsite of Lake Louise, cross the Trans-Canada to Highway 1A which is called the Bow Valley Parkway. You will find this highway much quieter and less traffic. The speed limit is 60 km/h. The road has a few hills, but they are short. - 236 km (49 km)
