There’s a reason why there are over 15,000 locksmiths found in the United States. When we get locked out of our car we rely on these professionals to get us back in.
However, a locksmith isn’t the only way you can get back into your locked car. There are other ways you can learn how to get your keys out of a locked car. In this article, we’ll go over two of them.
That way, you might be able to save some money and time when locked out of the car. Let’s get started!
Try a Coathanger
Get a coat hanger and straighten it out. Then, bend one end of it into a V shape. You should make this shape large so that you have enough space to fit between the car lock space.
Now, find some space in between the car door and rubber cover. Make sure you don’t rip through the rubber.
Once inside, place the coathanger over the lock. Then, once you snag the locking mechanism pulls up. The door should unlock.
Use a Shoestring
For this method find a long shoestring. Then, make find the middle section and make a slip knot.
You want a clear lop that you can slip over the car lock. Then, when you pull it will tighten it.
Once you tie the slip knot wiggle it into the side of the car door. They will require a bit of shimmying back and forth. Once the string is in the car door, try to place the loop over the lock.
This will take a bit of patience. Once you hook it, pull up. The knot will tighten and the car will unlock.
Contact a Locksmith
Sadly the two methods above don’t work for everybody. For one thing, you may have a car model with a lock system that doesn’t work with these methods.
You might also be unable to get the shoestring or the coathanger into your car. Or, you might just be afraid to damage your car. Regardless, a professional locksmith is the best option for either of these situations.
If your keys are in your car, they can easily and quickly get you in. Or, if you lost car keys look for one with a car key cutting service. They can make you a new one.
