Can Am Spyder Roadster Review: Is It Worth the Hype?

About a third of Can-Am riders and owners are female. Half of Can-Am riders are new to riding. This unique three-wheeled motorcycle is changing the face of the motorcycle industry.

The Can-Am Spyder Roadster promises to continue this legacy by being incredibly fun and easy to ride. Does the machine live up to the claims? Is it worth upgrading your old Can-Am for the new model or to finally give riding a try?

This guide will help you understand what you can expect from the new Spyder Roadster.

What Is the Spyder?

The Spyder is the higher-end model from Can-Am. There are two trim options to choose from, the F3 and the RT. The F3 is tough and has a muscular design that’s aggressive and fun.

The RT is more easy riding with ergonomic designs and plenty of cargo space. You’ll find several trim levels within these two main designs, from a base level to luxury. Thankfully, it’s easy to find Can Am parts for all of the trim levels.

Cockpit and Controls

One of the standout features of Can-Am is the user-friendly controls. This makes rider safety training easy. The company has developed innovative designs while using best practices and feedback from its riders.

The controls are easy to learn and use. There are extended floorboards with heel guards for increased rider comfort through a wider variety of possible leg positions. You and your rider will love the heated seats on chilly days.

The seats are designed for greater support, making longer rides possible. They’re are also lower, making your riding position more comfortable.

Storage and Cargo Capabilities

The RT standard edition will hold up to 31 gallons, and the RT Limited will hold 47 gallons. This means you can fit two full-sized helmets in the top case. A nice feature is the LinQ system that makes it easy to add and remove storage cases.

Ditch the bags for a sporty look when you’re enjoying casual rides around town. Then easily transition to a long trip with your cargo cases, coolers, and sport bags.

Performance

The RT is powered by a Rotax 1330 ACE, liquid-cooled triple engine. Smoothing out the ride is a double A-arm front suspension, and Sachs Big-Bore shocks with air preload adjustment.

Unlike traditional motorcycles that require you to shift through gears, Can-Ams are semi-automatic and come with reverse. These features keep you moving forward, while the Brembo brake kit gives you plenty of stopping power.

There are plenty of electronic rider controls that are similar to modern cars. Riders will appreciate the traction control, stability control, ABS, and dynamic powering steering.
